GSW Hail Storm event rescheduled for August 14

AMERICUS – On Friday, August 14, the Georgia Southwestern State University Department of Athletics will hold its second annual Hail Storm at Providence Springs Plantation. Golf balls can be purchased in advance for $100 each.

Those same golf balls, all 2,000 of them, will be dropped from a helicopter on to the plantation grounds. The person whose golf ball lands closest to the target will take home the first place prize of $25,000. Second closest gets $10,000 and those whose balls come in third through ninth will win $1,000 each. There is also a $1,000 prize for the ball that ends up the farthest away.

Those who purchase golf balls do not have to be in attendance in order to win, but included with the purchase of a ball is a ticket to a reception that evening. Those who attend will enjoy food from Cousins Catering, as well as complimentary drinks and music from the Answer Band. The reception will run from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m., with the Hail Storm (ball drop) taking place at approximately 7:30 p.m.
