Americus-Sumter track & field teams turn in solid results

AMERICUS – Both the Americus-Sumter boys and girls track & field teams turned in solid performances in recent days. The Lady Panthers competed in the Yellow Jacket Invitational in Thomasville, GA on Saturday, March 9 and finished in eighth place out of 14 teams. Several Lady Panthers earned individual medals. Ayesha Williams finished in third place in the Long Jump competition by jumping 15-11. Selliyah Owens finished in second place in the 400m Dash with a time of 1:03. Owens was just two seconds behind first-place finisher Tanija Turner of Lowndes High School. Turner finished with a time of 1:01.01.

Andrienne Douglas also had a good day on the track for the Lady Panthers. Douglas finished in third place in the 200m Dash with a time of 27:43.

In the women’s 4x100m Relay, the ASHS A team finished in seventh place with a time of 52.43. The ASHS B team finished in 14th place with a time of 54.16.

The ASHS boys’ track & field team also turned in excellent results at the Central Georgia Relays in Milledgeville, GA on Saturday, March 16.

Keyvontay Nelson finished in third place in the 100m Dash with a time of 11.30. Nelson also finished in third place in the 200m Dash with a time of 22.98. Jaylen Mable finished in third place in the 800m Run with a time of 2:12.26.

In the 4x100m Relay, the ASHS team of Keyvontay Nelson, Trevian Thomas, Christian Waymon and Montrellis Wilson finished in second place in the event with a time of 42.88. In the 4x400m Relay, the ASHS team of Jaylen Mable, Breylon Green, Trevian Thomas and Rondravious Terry finished in third place with a time of 3:34.92.

In the Boys’ Discus Finals, Frank Lewis finished in seventh place, throwing a distance of 104-6. Lamario Larry finished in ninth place in the Boys’ Triple Jump with a distance of 38-5.
